Michal The Girl RIP

Many on the NYC scene are mourning the loss of popular singer, songwriter and musican Michal Friedman - aka Michal The Girl - who passed away on Friday, due to complications during childbirth.  The twin babies she gave birth to - Jackson and Reverie - are apparently healthy and doing well.

Michal's friend Tiff Randol and others are hosting an evening of music "In Memory of Michal The Girl" at Rockwood Music Hall on December 19th, from 5pm to 7pm.  Donations on the night will be accepted.  Tiff will be performing Michal's Blue Sky ...

Underline The Sky Video for "Believe"

This is a bit of a new sound for the normally rocking band - Underline The Sky - from Ipswich, England.  But the song has Christmas #1 written all over it.  A great DIY video too.

James McMurtry Offers Free Song in Support of Occupy Movement

Austin's James McMurtry wrote a song called We Can't Make It Here a while ago - it appeared on his 2005 album Childish Things.  He's now made the song available as a free download in support of the Occupy movement.  It's available - in its original form, as a radio edit and an acoustic version, along with some new narrative from James - here.  And here's a video ...
