Facebook event page here - for those into such things.
Kickoff is at Noon. The artists - and running order - are as follows:

NYC-based Shwa Losben writes smart, catchy rock songs. He grew up listening to Brit-rock artists like Radiohead and Pulp, and never forgot their pop sensibilities. Since first emerging on the scene in 2005, Losben has toured relentlessly, strangely sharing bills with diverse acts including Lady Gaga and Kanye West. Recently, his hard work has paid off. In 2008, he released his debut solo album Chop Chop (produced by Johnny Goudie and Taylor Davis in Austin) to wide critical acclaim. The title track earned him the prestigious ASCAP Robert Allen Songwriting Award for which he was honored at Lincoln Center. He can currently be seen packing small venues in New York with his band “The Good Times” while preparing to release his fan-funded follow-up record this spring. Note: Come at Noon sharp for a couple of tunes from Taylor Davis. |

Longtime vocalist with uber-popular Austin soul/R&B combo T Bird and the Breaks, Jazz is now hard at work on her own stealth-mode music project, and will be making the debut performance in her own name, singing songs from a record just recorded in New York City, lovingly produced by Roger Greenawalt (of Ben Kweller fame). |
iTunes featured Greg Holden as one of “Today’s Best Singer/Songwriters,” and also featured his self-released debut album A Word In Edgeways on “What We’re Listening To.” Ten weeks after Greg launched his “Living Room Series” series on YouTube, he was a featured Spotlight Artist. Since then, YouTube has featured him three more times, accumulating over 900,000 plays. When Greg’s local Lancashire, England paper described him as having a “ fabulous voice, which deserves to be heard on a wider stage” they said it right. BBC Radio agreed, noting, “Greg Holden is one of the most talented singer-songwriters to have graced our studios…over the past couple of decades.” This past fall, after a summer of touring music halls on both sides of the pond, and the living rooms of his most ardent fans, now NYC resident Greg joined indie pop icon Ingrid Michaelson on her “Everybody” US tour. His song Choking On The Concrete was recently featured on an episode of Private Practice (ABC). |
After winning 1st place in the International Songwriting Contest (judged by Tom Waits), touring Europe five times, garnering widespread praise, and boasting over a million and a half listeners on MySpace, NYC-based Amber Rubarth is poised to conquer the world of folk pop with her wide-eyed, optimistic songs." - CDBaby. At 17 years old, Amber moved to Nevada to become a chainsaw sculptor. Three years later she decided to pursue her number one passion, trading her chainsaw for a guitar. She began touring and immediately people took notice of her unique approach of sculpting stories through song, working her way around and chipping away until the truest form inside beamed to life. Her fan-funded album Good Mystery (2009) has attracted widespread praise since its sold out release at New York City's legendar Joe's Pub, where it immediately hit #1 on the charts at Amie Street and remained for the following two weeks. NPR tastemaker Bob Boilen featured her on All Songs Considered, proclaiming that he was "attracted to her honesty and humor." The Boston Globe sums it up, saying "You will leave with a crush on her." |
Brooklyn's Kaiser Cartel are the dynamic duo of Courtney Kaiser and Benjamin Cartel. Each previously leaders of their own indie bands, they met on March 4th and formed Kaiser Cartel when they joined forces to tour the country that summer. They self-released an EP (Double Standard) and toured throughout the US and UK on their own before signing to bluhammock music.. March Forth is their debut album – produced by Matt Hales (aka Aqualung) – and is full of low-fi, harmony-heavy, bittersweet songs full of charm. Kaiser Cartel is currently on tour and intend to stay there until they’ve played for all of you. |
Raised in the icy shadows of Canada’s steel city smoke stacks, NLX hails from the proud tradition of BS-free northern songwriting women. Now living in NYC, she continues to carry the electronically edged dark pop torch with her debut album BITCH GET FIT ... 16 tracks of blow your mind and open your heart lyrical and musical smack. But performing live is where the full spectrum of NLX’s vivid colors are at their sharpest ... from 3,000+ soft-seaters while opening for Matthew Good and David Usher, to Lower East Side rock clubs to intimate cafes in Greenwich Village, NLX invites you into her heart and makes her way into yours with delightful blunt humor lifted from the same divine source as her music. You laugh, you cry. Experience NLX but don’t be afraid, you might just find love. |
One-time Austinite Bonnie Whitmore's sophomore album, Embers to Ashes, encapsulates everything that folk and country have always offered - stories that sometimes hit too close to home and melodies that make you sway with a drink in hand. Whitmore's songwriting, however, takes country music out of its contemporary realm, often resulting in a picture of the darker side of heartache and lost love. With an obvious foundation in classic country, Whitmore's attitude on her album and at her live show actually exemplify a revival of the harder and more honest side to the genre once led by Merle Haggard, Emmylou Harris, Johnny Cash and other songwriting legends. In just thirty minutes Bonnie Whitmore showed what performing real songs was all about: honesty, interaction and fearlessness. Besides being well on her way to songwriting success in Nashville, Ms. Whitmore symbolizes the folk legends throughout history that have done nothing but sacrifice in order to tell their story and give people something they can count on: honest music and a fan-inclusive live show. - Liz Imler, Caught in the Carousel |

“I come from a long lineage of fiery,
independent women who are not afraid," says the Texas native and
now Brooklyn-based songwriter, Eleanor Whitmore. You can tell this just
by looking at the bright red curls of her hair. "My parents have
always encouraged me and led by example. Flying planes. Sailing ships.
Triathlons.”
Make no mistake that Eleanor Whitmore
can fly a plane, but it's her musical talents that have carried her
so far.
Eleanor has made her career touring and recording. She has worked with artists from Diana Ross to Regina Spektor and Son Volt. During the last two years living in Austin, she recorded fiddle, mandolin and sang harmonies with Bruce Robison, Kelly Willis and Slaid Cleaves among many others. She recently made appearances on Neil Haggerty's Earth Junk and Son Volt’s American Central Dust. With her debut album Airplanes, produced by Chris Masterson (Son Volt), Eleanor shows herself to be a genius of melody, lyric and song structure. She writes with striking honesty, songs that tell stories of life, drinking coffee in the rain, sleeping on sofas in Austin with her dog. Eleanor's quirky-clever lyricism brings listeners intimately close to reality, expressing fear, confusion, epiphany, and exposing Eleanor to her listeners. "I love pop strings." And the record, guided by Eleanor's own finely crafted pop string arrangements, exists as a collection of well-crafted pop gems that will draw comparison to Liz Phair's Exile In Guyville and Aimee Mann's Bachelor No. 2. |
Fronted by Austin favorite Joseph King and exhibiting equal parts mischief and bliss, eloquence and irreverence, Deadbeat Darling is a New York City-based rock band whose music shimmers with hints of dub and electronica, and has thus far inspired a rabid and eclectic fanbase solely upon word of mouth. They released their debut full length album Weight of Wandering during the Summer of 2009, followed by two sold out shows at the Bowery Ballroom in NYC, and a run of shows throughout the East Coast, Texas and the Midwest ... |
